Inherited Cards

During the Christmas holiday I inherited the small card collection from my brother-in-law.  This sort of phenomena I like to call the "Gravity of Card Collectors."  This happens when through conversation or "being outed" as a card collector by a third party, someone else discovers you know a thing or two about cards and they want you to adopt their abandoned collection.  And like a meteor that is traveling through space and then suddenly grabbed by Earth's gravity the two objects card collections become one.

Yeah that just happened to me recently. I was browsing around my friend's grandfather's collection, thinking I would run into the vintage honey hole...and after flipping through a box separated into teams with mostly 88-94 junk, my friend asked me, "so you're pretty familiar with this stuff?" I asked where the "good stuff" was and he said his grandfather had it in a different part of the house and he was going to eBay it. Typical.

I have a collection in my "Man Cave" as we speak. The owner moved and asked me to price the collection. I've made a couple offers, but he won't pull the trigger one way or the other. I am hoping he finally gives in, which is why I haven't made a push to return them. They would make great trade/giveaway fodder.

Very cool. I have some friends who always ask me if their collections are worth anything... and usually they're not excited when I explain the whole "Junk Wax Era".

Love that binder. Someone gave me a card collecting kit as a high school graduation present and it looked similar to yours. It came with pages and a price guide.

Back in the day I bought two of those binders. I still have one of them, a few months back though I sacrificed the other one because for years and years the bottom ring had that partly open bend that meant the bottom sheet hole would come loose everytime you turned a page. I saved the front panel and the spine cardboards so I could attach them to another binder sometime.
