A few weeks ago I was back up north to Minnesota/Wisconsin and was able to stop by the infamous card shop/memorabilia store in the Mall of America, Field of Dreams.
They have way overpriced packs and even more insanely priced Brett Favre autographs. But behind the counter you'll find a few boxes of singles that you might find a good deal in now and again. I dug through them and pulled this old school Twins.
Bert "Be Home" Blyleven was the pitching coach for the Netherlands team in last year's World Baseball Classic who surprisingly beat the Dominican Republic.
Here's an Everybody's Got A Record mini-post...Bruno is the only Twin to ever hit an inside-the-park grand slam. There have only been 40 inside-the-park grand slams since 1950.
Al was the Twins first great closer recording 21 saves in the 1965 season.
Interestingly, Frank was the pitcher when long-time Twins great Rod Carew got his 3,000 hit.
Jimmie Hall burst onto the scene during the 1963 season smacking 33 home runs and finishing third in the Rookie of the Year voting. The next two years Jimmie was an All-Star hitting 25 and then 20 home runs. In 1966 he again hit 20 homers but each season after that would yield smaller and smaller totals.
Steve earned that All-Star Rookie trophy by hitting .254 over 128 games in 1971.
After leaving the Twins following the '71 season, Tom pitched for the Reds during the hey-day of the Big Red Machine.
