It is very possible that I over state the greatness of Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker because they were the feared duo that could have beaten my beloved Minnesota Twins when they made their run at the AL pennant in 1987. In my mind as an eight year old the Tigers were a team not to be messed with because they could get you with that double play combo at any point.
If Ryne Sandberg is a first ballot Hall of Famer, then Trammell needs to get it on about the eighth ballot. So far he's stuck at about the 18% mark and he was immediately behind Mark McGwire in the 2008 ballot.
